The first two names you may recognise as former architects of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. The third belongs to a man of equal vision and generosity, adding to the tree-lined streets of Healesville.

During this gentle, soft season of spring many scents drifting through the gardens of Botanica Editions call up childhood memories. Perhaps it is because, as children, we would spend so much time outdoors during easy, carefree and playful spring/summers just after waking from our winter slumber.

Growing up in the Yarra Valley, one of my closest friends was Penelope.
At the time, I think I undervalued her lineage from a family of great intellects and prominent Australian Landscape artists, ever present in her home hugged by the hills of the Yarra Valley. However one thing continues to warm my heart each pumpkin season. The fondness I shared with Penelope for her well-guarded family recipe Yarra Valley Pumpkin Pie.

Back in January we had twin Kids join us in the the Green wedge behind The Willow House. Now they have a new mate.
We love the Healesville Hotel and Yarra Valley Harvest because they are both 'our local'.

We are lucky to have these late season, heirloom apples in the back yard of our Yarra Valley Retreat, Botanica Editions.
Cafe Vue Macarons, Tasty-Az Roma tomato, basil & goats cheese tartlets, fresh mint and lemongrass harvested from the Botanica Editions kitchen garden, mix in 30 beautiful guests and we have the perfect ingredients for morning tea at The Willow House.
Our guests were finding it difficult to keep up with the abundant supply of Basil in the Harvest Garden at The Willow House over summer.

A couple of years ago we saved these Vintage Expresso Cups & Saucers from the garbage skip as the family was cleaning out the 'old house on the hill'. Now they sit proudly on the wall of Botanica Editions - The Willow House.
'Hard rubbish' collection in Healesville this month reminds me of the Christmas lights on the boulevard. A time when there is a extra traffic on the roads as people cruise the streets, admiring the homes decorated with Christmas lights, or during this 'hard rubbish' time, they cruise to claim pre-loved treasures.
The nets are going on in the Yarra Valley. This means only one thing.
